Applying for a Repair Grant

Workshops on Applying for a Repair Grant for Places of Worship

If you have a listed church building which is in need of repair and have been considering whether to apply for a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we urge you to attend one of these events.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE FOR WORKSHOP 1: NOW 23RD MAY (not 17th April, as advertised) - due to circumastances outside our control.

Every year English Heritage (EH) receives many applications for grants towards urgent repairs on places of worship. The North East receives a relatively low proportion of grants, just 2 out of 153 during 2010 for example. Some of the applications EH receives are unfortunately rejected.  This may be because the work applied for is not deemed urgent when considered against other applications.  However, some are rejected because the information provided is not sufficient, the form is not completed correctly or ineligible work is applied for.

Inspired North East are pleased, therefore, to be able to offer two new ‘workshop’ sessions with English Heritage officers during 2012. These will look specifically at grant funding, at how to fill in a Heritage Lottery Fund application form for a listed place of worship grant, what information EH/HLF requires in support of the application, and what kind of repair work EH considers to be eligible for a grant.
